Tips for Planning an RV Trip

Before you hit the road, it’s important to properly prepare for your RV vacation. Use the below tips to plan a safe and fun RV camping experience.

Plan Fun Activities

Instead of finding yourself without anything to do on your camp trips, you should have a list of fun activities. Research the features at the campground you are staying in, like if you can enjoy hiking trails and lakes for swimming. Make sure to plan for activities that you can do during poor weather conditions, too. For example, bring board games or coloring books for young children.

Let Someone Know Where You Are

Before heading out on your RV trip, have a point of contact to tell where you are going. In case of an emergency, that contact should know where you are and when you plan to come home.

Prepare Your RV

The last thing to prepare is your RV itself. Even if your camper has been in storage since you last used it, you should always be on the lookout for potential maintenance issues. Inspect common problem areas like the roof seals and test the appliances. If your RV was stored over the winter, make sure you de-winterize it properly. Refill the propane tanks and refuel the generator if necessary. We highly recommend you air out the camper, especially if it has been in storage for a long time.
